Director Luc Besson (The Professional, Lucy) has always favored grand gestures, even though he retreated into lower-budget filmmaking after the international hit that was The Fifth Element. Now, Besson’s EuropaCorp has sunk a reported €197 million into Valerian, making it easily the most expensive French film ever made. It’s coming in July.
