The launch trailer for Epic Games’ action-building videogame Fortnite was entirely created — including and color-correction — in Unreal Engine. Full-resolution scenes were lit in real time while VFX and particle systems were added to the visual mix. Unreal’s native NLE, Sequencer, orchestrated the process. One key advancement? Alembic caching improved the degree of control over facial expressions, adding tremendous production value to the piece. A detailed behind-the-scenes making-of will be presented at tonight’s Unreal Engine User Group meeting in downtown L.A.
