Yes, that is Oprah Winfrey, returning to the big screen next April with her Selma director Ava DuVernay, who adapts Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel with a screenplay by Frozen writer-director Jennifer Lee. Disney is banking on DuVernay bringing something new to the screen beyond the typical sci-fi blockbuster look and feel. Tobias Schliessler (Beauty and the Beast) is on board as DP, Selma‘s Spencer Averick is the editor, and VFX providers include ILM, Luma, and MPC.
