Is this the new Koyaanisqatsi? Tom Lowe, the maestro of modern time-lapse techniques, gets more ambitious with the announcement of Awaken, a documentary feature film about “humanity’s relationship with technology and the natural world.” He shot it in 30 countries over a five-year period during which he says he pioneered new techniques for “time-lapse, time-dilation, underwater and aerial cinematography.” Terrence Malick (Voyage of Time) and Godfrey Reggio (Koyaanisqatsi) are on board as executive producers.
