EditShare has acquired Quales, a specialist in QC systems for broadcast and online content, with plans to integrate Quales QC in its Flow MAM platform.
“There is a tremendous amount of mandatory file checks such as loudness control, EBU R128 and PSE checking,” said EditShare GM James Richings in a prepared statement. “It can be challenging for a technical director, never mind the editor or color grader, who are often tasked with fixing some of these requests. Many need assistance with how they can correctly conform their content to the latest broadcast standard but don’t have access to the QC technology. The integration of Quales within the Flow solution will provide answers to these questions and solve many of the pain points as they happen.”
EditShare said Quales will eventually be a “core capability” of the Flow platform, allowing users to QC content at any point in their workflow, rather than doing separate QC checks at the end of the process.
“With the integration into Flow and Automation, media content will always be assured, and controlled, throughout any workflow, no matter the complexity and localization of the assets,” said Quales QC COO Daniel Roques in a prepared statement.
Quales QC remains available as a standalone system from the company’s reseller network, EditShare said. IBC visitors will be able to preview the integration at IBC stand 7.C27 next month.
