The Toronto based SIM Group said today it has purchased Vancouver’s The Crossing Studios, a 400,000-square-foot production complex about a 25-minute drive from the city’s downtown area.
Under the new ownership, the SIM Group will add camera, lighting and grip supplies to The Crossing Studios’ existing offerings, which already include office space, Avid suites and the like. The Crossing Studios’ current clients include Viacom, Fox, Nickelodeon, Lifetime, and Sony Pictures.
The Crossing Studios was founded by Dian Cross-Massey in 2015 and occupies nine buildings in Vancouver, The SIM Grop said. “Dian and her team are extremely well-respected within the entertainment industry,” said SIM Group CRO James Haggarty in a prepared statement. “Together, we’ll not only be able to support the incredible growth in the Vancouver market, but clients will have the option to package everything they need from pre-production through post for better service and efficiencies.”
With the new acquisition, The Crossing Studios in Vancouver will join already active SIM Group facilities elsewhere in North America: Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Toronto. The SIM Group’s other operations include PS Production Services, Bling Digital, Chainsaw, Pixel Underground, Tattersall Sound & Picture and Post Factory.
