Stephen King stories have never really not been a hot Hollywood property, but Netflix turns out to have especially good timing, unleashing a new psychological thriller from director Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil) based on the 1992 King classic Gerald’s Game just a couple weeks after It scared the bejeezus out of the North American box office with the biggest horror-movie opening of all time. Michael Fimognari (Ouija: Origin of Evil) was the DP, Flanagan himself edited, and that’s Carla Gugino tied to the bed.
