’Tis the season: that hectic time of year when, amid everyone’s holiday preparations, family commitments and travel plans, PR reps scurry about frantically trying to get as many eyeballs as possible on the movies they’re pushing for Oscar consideration. Studios try to restrict the circulation of screener copies, but the screenplays for many films in contention are made available for anyone to download. They make great reading for anyone’s who’s interested in how some of the most highly acclaimed films of the year came together on the printed page before they were put in the can. Here’s a look at what’s available already, but if your favorite picture of the year isn’t on the list, check back — the list is only going to get (much) longer between now and the end of 2017.
