Will the sci-fi movie market support the release of another Star Wars story less than six months after The Last Jedi opened in theaters? Disney is about to find out, as Lucasfilm hustles Solo into release over the Memorial Day weekend. It’ll be competing for audience share with fellow May releases Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2, but it’ll have a couple weeks to play before The Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom show up in June. Bradford Young (Arrival) is the DP and Chris Dickens (Shaun of the Dead, Slumdog Millionaire) and Pietro Scalia (JFK, Black Hawk Down) shared editorial duties. Ron Howard (The Da Vinci Code) took over as director after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) left the project in June 2017.
