If you’re submitting a film to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) this year, there are two dates you need to know: October 1 and November 15.
AMPAS announced today that submissions for consideration in the specific categories of Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Animated Short Film and Live Action Short Film are due by 5 p.m. PT on Monday, October 1.
Submissions in Original Score and Original Song, as well as for consideration in the Academy’s remaining “general entry” categories, which include Best Picture, are due by 5 p.m. PT on Thursday, November 15.

Voting on Oscar nominations opens Monday, January 7, 2019 and closes Monday, January 14. The nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 22.
The Scientific and Technical Awards take place Saturday, February 9.
Final voting opens Tuesday February 12, and all ballots are due Tuesday, February 19, in advance of the 91st Oscars, scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood.
