The Coen Brothers’ The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, announced last year as a six-episode Netflix original series set in the Old West, has turned up on the festival circuit not as a TV show but as a 132-minute feature film, according to Variety. (Figure each episode of a half-hour TV sitcom runs about 22 minutes and it’s easy to see how Buster Scruggs ended up running so long.) Here’s the first trailer, showcasing cinematography by Bruno Delbonnel and teasing performances by Tim Blake Nelson, Brendan Gleeson, Tom Waits and more.
