North Hollywood reseller Birns & Sawyer said it is auctioning excess rental and sales inventory next week, ahead of the retirement of owner and CEO William Meurer. The auction will be managed by Tiger Group.
The facility, which occupies 8,000 square feet on Craner Avenue in North Hollywood, is shedding product before moving into a 4,500-square-foot Burbank location in anticipation of Meurer’s departure. Meurer, who bought the company in 1998, is passing the torch to longtime employee and DP Jeff Jackson and industry veteran Michael Shugrue. The sales division will continue to be managed by Mari Acevedo, Tiger said.
The auction will include Zeiss lenses, Panasonic and Sony cameras, Quasar LED tubes, K5600 HMI fixtures, Kino Flo LED Select lights, a Porta Jib with track, and Birns & Sawyer slates, hi-hats and other products such as lens filters, signal generators, memory cards, dollies, stands, flags and office furniture, Tiger said.
“After many storied years, we are pleased to see the Birns & Sawyer legacy continue as we assist the company in its transition plan and the move to its new location,” said Tiger Group Executive Managing Director Jeff Tanenbaum in a prepared statement. “The auction will feature equipment from Arri, Panasonic, lens sets from Cooke, Ultra Prime, and Zeiss, plus many more top-notch gear makers at competitive prices.”
Online bidding is scheduled to begin December 6 at www.soldtiger.com, with the auction set to close, item-by-item, beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT on December 13. The items on offer can be previewed at Birns & Sawyer, 5275 Craner Ave., North Hollywood, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on December 12, Tiger said.
