American Cinema Editors (ACE) named the nominees for the 69th annual ACE Eddie Awards, recognizing outstanding editing in feature films, documentaries, and television programming.
Both of the big winners from last night’s Golden Globes — Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book — are represented on the list, as are some titles that have gotten less attention in awards conversations, including BlacKkKlansman, First Man, and Deadpool 2. There aren’t many big surprises on ACE’s list — all four of its documentary feature nominees are still in the running for Oscars, based on the last shortlist released by AMPAS.
When it comes to television, ACE really likes Atlanta, Better Call Saul and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, each of which earned nominations for two separate episodes in their categories. Despite all that doubling up, no editors are in competition with themselves this year.
ACE is an honorary society of motion picture editors founded in 1950. Final balloting for its awards will be open Jan. 11–21, in advance of an awards ceremony scheduled for February 1 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
