“In a Nutshell” began life as a 45-second trailer for the International Film Festival of Winterthur, but took on a life of its own when director Fabio Friedli repurposed some of the trailer’s visual ideas, expanding them into a witty, ambitious short film that honors human discovery and ingenuity while remaining suspicious of industry and technology.
