Storm-chaser Brandon Clement at WXChasing was in the right place at the right time with the right gear — a camera drone — to capture this long tracking shot of a tornado near Sulphur, OK. “It’s taken me three years to find the right conditions to shoot that video within the Part 107 rules with the FAA,” Clement wrote on Facebook in response to some negative feedback from what he called “drone police,” insisting that he shot in a “very rural area” and was not putting bystanders at risk. “Surface winds were very weak around the tornado, there was no rain, visibility was greater than three miles and at no point was the drone operating near its maximum capabilities.”
