Hideo Kojima, one of the widely recognized auteurs of the videogame industry — writer, director and designer of the hugely popular and influential Metal Gear series — edited this nine-minute-long trailer introducing the world to … well, to whatever his new game, Death Stranding, is. TV and movie fans should feel right at home, as the game features the digital likenesses of stars including Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Léa Seydoux (Spectre), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), and even directors Guillermo Del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn. First announced as an open-world action game in 2016, it’s caught the imagination of fans straining to figure out what exactly Kojima has in store, but from the looks of this footage, it may be hard to get a handle on until gamers have the whole thing loaded up and ready to go. At least there’s a firm release date to look forward to: November 8.
