Following up on its Pro Convert encoders that turn HDMI and SDI signals into IP-friendly NDI streams, Magewell plans to introduce a new NDI decoder at IBC that will turn live NDI streams into HDMI outputs.
Magewell said the new Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI device will make it easier to use NewTek’s NDI protocol for presentation and delivery applications including digital signage and video walls, as well as multi-site video distribution and long-distance media transport.
The decoder can convert NDI streams at resolutions up to 2160 x 1200 at 60fps for HDMI 2.0 output, Magewell said. It also supports upconversion of HD or 2K streams to 4K for display on UHD screens. The Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI supports DHCP network configuration and uses EDID metadata to detect display characteristics. The decoder can be controlled via browser, keyboard-and-mouse, or two hardware buttons on the device itself that overly a menu on the HDMI output.
Eight channels of audio are supported in the NDI stream, and audio gain, sample rate, channel selection and on-screen VU meters are user-controlled. The device integrates image flip, safe area controls, and remote control of PTZ cameras.
The Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI is the eighth Pro Convert device to be introduced by Magewell, and the second decoder.
“Our Pro Convert products continue to earn industry accolades and customer acclaim for helping video production, broadcast and professional AV end users and integrators easily and cost-effectively join the IP workflow revolution,” said Magewell VP of Engineering James Liu in a prepared statement. “We are pleased to continue expanding it with new models and feature enhancements that add more value and allow customers to choose exactly the right configuration for their infrastructure needs.”
