Creative Software Suite Includes VFX Tools, Image Editor
German developer Magix Software is looking to bring Vegas back in a big way after its 2016 purchase of the video editing software from Sony. First, there was the release earlier this month of Vegas Pro 17, which the company said introduced 30 new features. And now, Magix subsidiary Vegas Creative Software has released Vegas Post, part of a collaboration with HitFilm VFX software vendor FXhome that it hopes will turn Vegas into a full-on creative suite.
Vegas Post includes Vegas Pro 17 as well as Vegas Effects, a package of creative effects and filters, and Vegas Image, which is essentially the Vegas answer to Photoshop. Vegas Effects includes particle generators, green-screen removal tools, a muzzle-flash generator, and a variety of video scopes and color-grading functions, Vegas said. Vegas Image has a chrome-keyer built in plus an array of filters and effects and LUT support.
A perpetual license for Vegas Post is $999, a subscription (known as Vegas Post 365) runs $34.99 but can be had for $21/month with a 12 month commitment through August 28.
