The Production Music Association announced that Paul Williams, president and chairman of the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP), will be a keynote speaker at the 2019 Production Music Conference (PMC).
Williams is an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe-winning songwriter whose résumé includes “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,” and “The Rainbow Connection.” His recent credits include “Touch” and “Beyond” from Daft Punk’s 2013 album Random Access Memories as well as a collaboration with Guillermo del Toro and Gustavo Santaolalla on a new stage adaptation of del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth.
Also appearing in a keynote interview will be composer Pinar Toprak, best-known recently for Captain Marvel, the Pixar Spark short “Purl,” and her contributions to the soundtrack of videogame phenomenon Fortnite.
PMC 2019 is scheduled to take place September 23–26 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel on Highland Avenue in Hollywood. The PMC’s program includes The Mark Awards, honoring achievements in production music, slated for September 24.
