A new nine-episode YouTube series from New York-based retailer Adorama takes a behind-the-scenes look at the technical aspects of music video production, with each episode considering a different technical aspect of the project. (New episodes will be released weekly.) The first episode digs into the subject of microphones, demonstrating how careful mic selection can help capture clear, robust sound during a performance. Mics considered include the Sennheiser ME 64, MD 41 and E 604, the Neumann KMS 105, the Rode NT3 and Videomic Pro+, the AKG C414, and, of course, the classic Shure SM58.
