The BBC goes back to the source — the original H.G. Wells science fiction novel — for the newest version of The War of the Worlds, this one set in Edwardian England. Writer-director Peter Harness (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Doctor Who) is wrangling a cast that includes Rafe Spall, Eleanor Tomlinson, Rupert Graves and Robert Carlyle. James Friend (Patrick Melrose) is the DP, and VFX supervisors credited at IMDb include Stephen Coren, Sally Goldberg and Ivor Middleton.
