iZotope released Dialogue Match, a new software tool the company claims analyzes the “sonic character” of dialogue recordings to better match tracks captured from different sources.
The company said Dialogue Match combines iZotope’s proprietary machine-learning algorithms with reverb technology it acquired in its purchase of Exponential Audio earlier this year.
Users can extract a sonic profile from a given dialogue performance, then apply it to a track captured with a different microphone source to avoid a jarring difference in audio quality when the lines are edited together. iZotope said the process dramatically reduces the amount of time needed to match production dialogue to ADR. It can also be used to treat localized audio tracks to match the original language track recordings.
Dialogue Match’s EQ Module uses technology from Ozone 9 to match tonal and spectral characteristics between tracks. The Reverb Module uses reverb-matching technology to apply the characteristics of one recording to another. And the Ambience Module analyzes spectral noise profiles, allowing it to recreate room tone in an ADR workflow.
Dialogue Match is available as a standalone AudioSuite Plugin for Avid Pro Tools 11 or later with an MSRP of $599. It’s also included in iZotope’s Post Production Surround Reverb Bundle ($1,199), its RX 7 Advanced Reverb Bundle ($1,499), and its RX Post Production Suite 4 ($1,999). A 10-day trial version is available at the iZotope website.
