Director Kitty Green’s The Assistant takes place over the course of a single day in the life of Jane (Julia Garner), an assistant to a powerful (but unseen) entertainment executive. Opening on January 31, the film’s unsettling story was reportedly inspired by disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Ten percent of any profits earned by the filmmakers, producer and financiers will be set aside to support grants from The New York Women’s Foundation supporting women-led, community-based organizations in New York City.
